A comprehensive plan for the development of settlements in Astana and its environs for the period 2024-2028 was approved at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers chaired by Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Olyas Bektenov.

The Government of Kazakhstan has prepared a comprehensive development plan for the capital Astana and its environs, whose population is increasing by about 60 thousand people annually.

In his speech, Minister of National Economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nurlan Baybazarov stated that there are more than 40 settlements around Astana, whose population is rapidly increasing, and said: "Within the framework of the development plan, it is planned to carry out work on the development of urban infrastructure, modernization of social and transport infrastructure, environmental safety and emergency prevention in Astana and its surroundings."

In this regard, Minister Baibazarov said that eco-towns, as well as 7 fire stations, and an industrial zone with an area of 300 hectares will be built on a total area of more than 940 hectares.

Mayor of Astana Janis Kassymbek stated that the population of Astana is increasing by about 60 thousand people annually, and that 200 thousand people and more than 30 thousand vehicles from nearby regions enter the city daily, and said: "Since the capital is the nearest and largest market for food producers in the region, we intend to commission 63 major projects, including the construction of hospitals and schools, industrial complexes, food warehouses and logistics centers, as part of the approved development plan."

Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Bektenov said that migration from nearby regions to Astana significantly increases the burden on the capital's infrastructure, ecology and security, and therefore efforts to solve these problems should be a priority.
