President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said that the widespread use of artificial intelligence technologies in the economy is extremely important and instructed the newly formed government to create a basic institutional environment in this area.

President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev took part in the first extended meeting of the new government headed by Olzhas Bektenov.

Speaking at a meeting where the results of the work of the Kazakh economy over the past year and its further goals were determined, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said: "Last year, the country's economy grew by 5.1 percent. The most important thing is that we have managed to maintain a positive dynamic in development."

Tokayev stressed that the country should grow by at least 6 percent every year in order to increase the economy to $450 billion by 2029, which is the main goal of the new government.

Pointing to the need for a consistent and dynamic course of liberalization in the economy, Tokayev said: "This is the only way to bring Kazakhstan to a fundamentally new level of development."

Tokayev also noted that the widespread use of artificial intelligence technologies in the economy is extremely important, and said: "According to experts, by 2026, more than 80 percent of global businesses will use artificial intelligence tools. The development of artificial intelligence can become the driving force of economic progress and innovation in our country. To do this, it is necessary to create a basic institutional environment."

Having commissioned the implementation of a program called "Digital Nomad Residence" to attract leading foreign experts in the field of artificial intelligence to the country, Tokayev said: "We must make our country a point of attraction for digital nomads from all over the world."

In addition, Tokayev set goals in such areas as improving the effectiveness of tax policy, reducing bureaucracy for foreign investment, continuing the fight against corruption, reforming the industrial sector, increasing the share of domestic production in agriculture, strengthening the country's transport and logistics potential.
