The Days of Culture of Kyrgyzstan were held today at the Museum of Painting and Sculpture in the capital Ankara with a film screening and a gala concert.

ANKARA (Civil Initiative/Zelikha Sorkunlu/) "Days of Culture of Kyrgyzstan", organized by the Embassy of Kyrgyzstan in Ankara with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkey and the International Turkic Cultural Organization (TURKSOY) on November 26, 2023, began with a film screening. Deputy Minister of Culture, Information, Sports and Youth Policy of Kyrgyzstan Timurlan Ajimaliyev, Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to Ankara Ruslan Kazakbayev, Secretary General of TURKSOY Sultan Raev, Honorary Consul General of Kyrgyzstan in Bolu (Turkey) Atillahan Kurt took part in the event held at the Museum of Painting and Sculpture in the capital Ankara, the event was attended by the Director General of the Erkin Cinema Yilmaz, Mayor of Etymesgut Enver Demirel, Mayor of Kechieren Turgut Altynok, Head of the Gendarmerie Coast Guard Academy, Major General Shakir Uslu, the general director of the state theaters Tamer Karadagli and many Kyrgyz Turks. The event, organized on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Turkey and the 95th anniversary of the birth of Kyrgyz writer Cengiz Aitmtov, began at 15.00 with the performance of the anthem of the two countries.

Erkin Yilmaz, the general director of the cinema, was the first to make an introductory speech. Yilmaz said that last week they visited the Kyrgyz Film Festival, held in Bishkek, and drew attention to the work of the unforgettable writer Cengiz Aitmov. Yilmaz began his speech with the words: "I remember Cengiz Aitmov with longing, respect and mercy for his unique heritage and contribution to Turkish culture." Yilmaz stressed that 173 Turkish films have been exported to 750 million people and said: "Wherever you go, people understand Turkish, speak it and give Turkish names to their children. We will continue to increase support for the film and TV series sector."

Kyrgyz Ambassador to Ankara Kazakbayev discussed issues of joint production of Turkish and Kyrgyz cinema

The Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to Ankara Ruslan Kazakbayev began his opening speech with gratitude to all institutions and heads of organizations that supported the Days of Culture. Ambassador Kazabayev paid tribute to the memory of the great writer Chingiz Aitmatov at an event organized on the occasion of the 95th anniversary of his birth. Kazabayev said: "It is a great honor that the Days of Kyrgyzstan in Turkey began in the Turkish Quarry Hall. Ataturk said: "I don't want to leave this place because of the hands that built it." We don't want to leave this place today either."

Stating that the celebration of Aitmatov's birth is of special importance, Kazakbayev cited the example of the film "Selvi Boilum al Yazmalim". He stated that the film, starring Turkan Shorai and Kadir Inanyr, was of great importance for Turkish cinema. He also noted that Chingiz Aitmatov's book "The Wolf" was adapted for cinema with life, love, compassion, longing and music, and that Kyrgyzstan fought for this before gaining independence.

Ajimaliyev also celebrated the 100th anniversary of the Turkish Republic and said: "I wish there would always be peace in the country." Akymaliev said: "Although we are located in three different regions of the world, we are two fraternal peoples. Important events are taking place in both countries. A film festival was organized for the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Turkey. We would like to thank the citizens and the Ministry (Ministry of Culture and Tourism) for their help in organizing it in both Turkey and Kyrgyzstan."

In his opening speech at the Gala Concert, Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to Ankara Ruslan Kazakbayev recalled that the event was dedicated to the 32nd anniversary of Kyrgyzstan's independence, the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Turkey and the 95th anniversary of the birth of Kyrgyz writer Chingiz Aitmatov. "I am sure that Kyrgyz culture will attract attention in Turkey. These events are important for the development of our brotherhood. This solidarity is based on two common stories, culture and language. Relations between Kyrgyzstan and Turkey have been developing since 1991." Noting that Turkey was the first country to recognize Kyrgyzstan's independence, Kazakbayev said that using Aitmatov's birth year in Ankara has symbolic significance.

Ajimaliyev said that joint celebrations between Turkey and Kyrgyzstan have become a tradition. "Over time, many changes have taken place in the lives of our countries and peoples, but the warm relations and sincerity between the peoples of Kyrgyzstan and Turkey have not changed. I think there is no doubt that the similarity of language and religion will become an important element of the unity of the Turkic world, an inseparable and lasting bridge between the two peoples."

Finally, Batuhan Mumcu, Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism of Turkey, emphasized the fraternal relations between the two countries in his speech. In his speech, Mumchu expressed the following:

"We know that together with our brothers in Kyrgyzstan, we have laid the foundation of our common history and cultural heritage, which bears traces of Turkish culture. We continue to take important steps to ensure the security of the country in honor of the 100th anniversary of the republic. We continue to tell the whole world about our common culture, which connects us to each other. We are very happy to hold Cultural Days to deepen the friendship between Turkey and Kyrgyzstan and strengthen their love."

After the performances, the People's Artists of the Kyrgyz Republic, the folklore and ethnographic ensemble "Kambarkan", the state dance ensemble "Ak-Maral" and Honored Artists of Kyrgyzstan supplemented the program with traditional songs, folk songs and dances.
