Turkic states create a "new union" in the field of mass media
Secretary General of the OTG Omuraliev said that the news agencies of the countries of the region will create a new alliance and said that a joint fight against disinformation and fake news will be conducted.
Speaking at the opening of the media summit of Turkic News agencies held in Istanbul, Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTG) Kubanychbek said that cooperation between the Turkic states is of great importance for peace and development of the region.
Noting that today is a historic day and a strategic step has been taken, Omuraliyev said that they will sign the idea of creating a union of Turkish news agencies.
Omuraliev said: "We must join forces to fight fake news and bring the right information to the public. Joint actions in this direction are very important."
The theme of the summit is "Unity in the media and vision of the future", as well as panel discussions entitled "New agenda of agency journalism in the Turkic world" and "Future vision of the Turkic world: new areas of cooperation".
Following the summit, the signing of a union agreement is expected between the CA, the Azerbaijani State News Agency (AZERTAC), the Kyrgyz National News Agency (KABAR), the National News Agency of Uzbekistan (UZ) and the Kazakh company Qazcontent.
