UAE Increases Investments in Kazakhstan

Ten investment cooperation agreements were signed during the official visit of UAE Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to Kazakhstan.

The Crown Prince arrived in the capital, Astana, where he was officially welcomed by Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev at the Akorda Presidential Palace. Following the official ceremony, Tokayev and Al Nahyan held a bilateral meeting, which was followed by talks between the two countries’ delegations.

UAE’s Direct Investment in Kazakhstan Reached Record Levels in 2024

President Tokayev emphasized the significance of the visit in providing fresh momentum to bilateral relations. He noted that in 2023, Kazakhstan and the UAE signed a joint declaration on the implementation of strategic projects, and that in 2024, direct investment from the UAE to Kazakhstan doubled, reaching a record level.

During the visit, over 20 commercial agreements worth $5 billion were signed between the two countries. Tokayev underlined that the implementation of these agreements would not only deepen strategic cooperation but also help strengthen mutual ties.

Ten Investment Cooperation Agreements Signed

Crown Prince Al Nahyan expressed his pleasure in visiting Kazakhstan, a country known for its natural beauty and hospitality. He highlighted that the bilateral relationship is founded on trust, mutual support, and a shared desire for progress. Al Nahyan noted that cooperation now extends beyond trade and investment to include energy, transportation, digital infrastructure, and education.

Following their talks, Tokayev and Al Nahyan attended the signing ceremony of the bilateral agreements. The 10 investment cooperation agreements cover a range of sectors, including automobile and marine transport, energy, digitalization of the oil and gas industry, and the establishment of a supercomputer cluster.

Additionally, an agreement was signed between the Turkistan regional government and the Abu Dhabi Development Fund for the construction of a maternity hospital in Turkistan. Another agreement targets the development of the Nursultan Nazarbayev International Airport and its surrounding area in Astana.
