Uzbekistan's economic growth in 2023 amounted to 6%

The growth of the Uzbek economy has reached 6% compared to the level of 2022.

In a statement, the State Statistics Agency of Uzbekistan stated that the country's economy grew by 6 percent last year, while it was emphasized that the gross domestic product reached $90 billion 800 million.

The statement said that in 2023, industrial production in the country increased by 6.4 percent, the service sector – by 6.8 percent, construction – by 6.4 percent, agriculture, forestry and fishing – by 4.1 percent, transport – by 8 percent, retail sales – by 9.1 percent.

Last year, annual inflation was 8.8 percent.

The statement noted that the total volume of the country's foreign trade in 2023 increased by 23.9 percent compared to the previous year, while exports increased by 23.8 percent and imports increased by 24 percent.

The statement states that 88,800 new enterprises were created in the country in 2023, thus, the total number of enterprises in the country is 485 thousand as of January 1, 2024.

Uzbekistan's economy, which grew by an average of 5-6 percent per year before the Covid-19 epidemic, grew by 1.6 percent in 2020, by 7 percent in 2021, and by 5.7 percent in 2022.
