Victory Day Reception Hosted by the Russian Embassy in Ankara
Russian Ambassador to Ankara, Aleksei V. Erkhov, hosted a reception to mark the 80th anniversary of the victory of the anti-Hitler coalition forces — including Turkey — over German fascism.
The Embassy of Russia in Ankara organized a reception on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, known as the Eastern Front of World War II.
Ambassador Erkhov’s Victory Day Address
Russian Ambassador Aleksei V. Erkhov hosted the reception in honor of the 80th anniversary of the victory of the anti-Hitler coalition forces — including those of Turkey — over German fascism. Ambassador Erkhov and his wife, Irina Erkhov, welcomed guests at the entrance of the Victory Day reception.
In his speech at the event, Ambassador Erkhov said:
“Today, our hearts are filled with joy. I am immensely proud of our fathers and grandfathers who crushed the war machine of the Third Reich, and I am grateful for their immortal heroism that liberated the peoples of Europe from occupation, slavery, and concentration camps.”
High-Level Participation in the Reception
The reception, held at the Russian Embassy, was attended by many distinguished guests. Among the participants were Belarusian Ambassador to Ankara Anatoly Glaz, Kazakh Ambassador Yerkebulan Sapiev Onalbekuly, Uzbek Ambassador Alisher Agzamhodjayev, Indian Ambassador Muktesh K. Pardeshi, Kyrgyz Ambassador Ruslan Kazakbaev, Kyrgyz Honorary Consul in Bolu Atillahan Kurt, Ankara Provincial Director of Culture and Tourism Erhan Karakaya, officials from the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, businesspeople, and members of the press.
Cultural Event
Guests were treated to traditional dishes from Russia and other former Soviet republics. The program also featured a concert of songs from the wartime era. Additionally, attendees had the opportunity to visit a photo exhibition highlighting the contributions of the former Soviet republics to the victory over fascism.
